Coping with Holidays

Apologies for this week’s midweek motivation being a day later than usual,  I’m on holiday and didn’t get the chance to write it yesterday.  However, having to stop to re-fuel both my car and my children (!) I couldn’t help but notice something…

All the ‘bigger’ people were eating and drinking, and as a generalisation, traditional fast foods such as burgers and fries.  The ‘thinner’ people however, and again as a big generalisation, tended to be making smaller and healthier choices, sandwiches, fruit, just a drink etc.

Now, just to be clear, I have absolutely no objection or aversion to McDonalds, chocolate muffins or the English favourite of fish and chips.  In fact, I love and enjoy them all (it’s one of the reasons I’ve probably not got a 23inch waist like The Duchess of Cambridge!)

But the crucial thing is that none of us will get thin, be thin or remain thin by eating and drinking foods TO EXCESS that are high in fats or sugars and low in vital nutrients.

Eating what you want may well be a key to you being happy, and in order to continue doing this, and still lose weight, you also need to remember these three key principles:

- Eat only when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full (hypnosis available if you want help on this)

- Eat what you want, just in moderation (no problem if you follow the instruction above!)

- Be aware that ‘healthier’ food may well sustain your energy levels for longer – and have many additional benefits too

So next time you’re on holiday, travelling, bored, stressed or even just facing your next meal, remind yourself of these three principles and see what impact it has on your decisions…
